How to Export Your Calorie Data
These steps let you download your calorie burn history from Samsung Health and import it into FoodSilo. You only need to do this when you want to update your history — not every day.
1
Open the Samsung Health app on your Samsung phone.
2
Find the menu — two ways depending on your phone:
Larger/unfolded screen: Tap the ☰ hamburger menu icon in the top left corner.
Smaller or folded screen: Tap the ⋮ three dots in the top right corner, then tap Settings and skip to step 4.
3
Tap the ⚙️ Settings icon in the top right corner of the side menu that opened (not your phone's main settings — it's inside the Samsung Health menu).
4
In the Samsung Health Settings screen, scroll down until you see "Download personal data" and tap it.
5
Tap the large Download button at the bottom of the screen.
6
Samsung will ask you to enter your Samsung account password to confirm. Type it in and tap OK. The download will start — you'll see a progress bar showing something like "Downloading... (1/2)".
7
Wait for the download to complete. This can take several minutes. Don't close Samsung Health while it's downloading.
8
Before importing, open your My Files app → Internal Storage → Downloads → Samsung Health. Finding the file here first ensures it will appear correctly when you go to select it in FoodSilo. Note: files may take 5–10 minutes to appear after the download finishes — this is normal.
9
Look for the file named shealth.calories_burned.details followed by a date. That is the file you need.
10
Return to FoodSilo, tap ⚙️ Settings, find the Samsung Health CSV Import section, and tap Choose File. If the file browser opens to the last folder you were in, tap Samsung Health at the top to navigate back to that folder and find the new file. Select it, then tap Import.
💡 Tips & Common Issues
• Files not showing up in FoodSilo? Make sure you opened the file in My Files first (step 8) — this is required for it to appear correctly when choosing a file in the app.
• "No dates matched" error? FoodSilo can only add calorie burn data to days where you already logged food. Make sure you've been logging meals in FoodSilo first.
• How often should I do this? Whenever you want to update your history — once a week is a good rhythm if you want accurate calorie tracking.
• Samsung Health calorie data uses your watch's heart rate sensor for much more accurate readings than general fitness apps, especially for physical labour and active jobs.
📱 Google Fit
Connecting Google Fit for Smart Scale Weight
If you have a smart scale that syncs to Google Fit (such as the Wyze Scale X, Fitbit Aria, or Withings Body+), FoodSilo can automatically pull your latest weight each time the app loads.
1
Make sure your smart scale is set up and syncing to Google Fit on your phone. Check the scale's companion app for a "Connect to Google Fit" option.
2
In FoodSilo, tap ⚙️ Settings and find the Health & Fitness Sync section.
3
Tap Connect next to Google Fit. A Google sign-in popup will appear — sign in with the same Google account your scale uses.
4
After connecting, you'll see checkboxes. Make sure Weight is checked. If you also want FoodSilo to pull calorie burn data from Google Fit, check Calories Burned too.
5
FoodSilo will now automatically sync your weight from Google Fit every time you open the app. Your Weight Journey and History will update silently in the background.
💡 Notes
• Samsung Watch users: Keep the Calories Burned checkbox unchecked if you're using Samsung Health CSV import for calories — Samsung's data is more accurate for physical work. Use Google Fit only for weight.
• Session reconnect: For security, Google Fit requires you to re-authorise each browser session. Just tap Connect again — your preferences are saved.
• Calorie accuracy: Google Fit calorie estimates vary by device. Smartwatch users will get better readings than phone-only users.
❓ FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does FoodSilo need me to log in?
FoodSilo uses your account to securely store your pantry, food history, and settings in the cloud so your data is always backed up and accessible across devices.
Will my data be shared with anyone?
No. Your data is stored securely in your own private account. Only you can see it. FoodSilo does not sell or share any personal data.
Why did my daily tracker reset?
FoodSilo automatically resets your daily log at a time you set in Settings. If you work shifts or have a changing schedule, you can customise the reset time for each day of the week. You can also create multiple Schedule Profiles with different reset times and switch between them as your schedule changes.
The barcode scanner didn't find my product — what do I do?
FoodSilo uses the Open Food Facts database. If your product isn't in there, it will open the Add Item form with the barcode pre-filled so you can enter the nutrition info manually. It remembers this for next time.
How does AI Lookup work?
AI Lookup lets you get nutrition estimates for any food — restaurant meals, local spots, homemade recipes, or anything not in the database. Tap the 🤖 AI button in the Pantry toolbar or the 🤖 AI Lookup — describe any food button in the Today tab, type a description of what you ate (e.g. "2 slices pepperoni pizza" or "egg everything bagel with cream cheese from Bagel Boss"), and tap Look it up. The AI returns estimated macros based on typical values for that food. These are estimates — always verify against the actual nutrition label where possible. Your food query is sent to Anthropic's AI service; no personal data is included.
What is the Wishlist tab?
The Wishlist is a "buy eventually" list for items you want but aren't ready to purchase yet — things you're waiting on a sale for, items that need more fridge space, or seasonal ingredients. You can scan a barcode to add items directly, or add them manually. When you're ready to buy, tap 🛒 Grocery List to move it to your active shopping list, or 🧺 Add to Pantry if you've already bought it. You'll be asked whether to keep the item on your Wishlist or remove it.
What are Schedule Profiles?
Schedule Profiles let you save different reset time configurations for different schedules — for example a "Standard" profile for your regular week and an "Overtime" profile for when you're working extra days. Switch profiles from the Today tab by tapping your current profile name, or manage them in Settings. Free accounts include up to 3 profiles. Each profile can optionally enable streak pause protection, which prevents your streak from breaking on days you don't log while that profile is active (limited to 14 days per 90 day period).
How do I see how many calories I have left for the day?
Tap the ⇄ icon next to any macro on the Today tab to toggle between showing how much you've logged and how much you have remaining for the day. The label updates to show "remaining" so it's always clear which view you're in. If you've gone over your limit it will show how much you're over in red.
My Samsung Health files aren't showing up in My Files after downloading.
This is a known Samsung behaviour — the files can take 5–10 minutes to appear in My Files even after the download bar shows 100%. Wait a few minutes and check again.
